The concept of indigenous people is difficult to define due to many different variables. Dialects, physical attributes and religion are all problematic, partly because time and distinctions between groups have altered these characteristics. Migration of people across national borders, however, remains the primary difficulty, affecting the concept’s basis in history and territory.
